If you are shame because of some incorrect pronunciation when you communicate with others, you will never attain opportunities to make your English better and better. In contrast, the more you talk, the more confident you are. One thing helps you speak English naturally and fluently that is to learn how to pronunciation and try to look it up in dictionary even though it takes a long time to study that work, but it is important if you want to speak English in a perfect way. Don’t forget to set time to practice English every day and whenever you can.

One another necessary thing to learn English is to read newspapers, magazines and books. There are many different topics you can learn when you read these resources, so you can learn from that a lot of vocabularies in various aspects. You also know how to use each vocabulary in different situations. It is important to learn vocabularies in context; therefore, it also enhances your reading and writing skill at the same time.

Similarities and differences between St. Norbert College and universities in my countrySimilarities and differences between St. Norbert College and universities in my country

             I wonder if everybody orientate yourself to student life in St. Norbert College. So far as I live and study in St. Norbert College, this college is the best place not only for study but also for enjoy college life. Like St. Norbert College, there are many good universities in South Korea as well. I actually don’t know much about universities in my country because I haven’t been to a university in South Korea. However, I have heard many things from my friend about her uni and she is a student in Sungkyunkwan University which is one of the famous universities in my country. Base on my friend’s words and my experience in St. Norbert College, I’m going to tell you about similarities and differences between the university in my country and St. Norbert College.

            I believe that the university in South Korea and St. Norbert College have a lot of in common, but I picked three main similarities to tell you. First of all, the university in my country as well as St. Norbert College has many, various classes for students. Students can choose which classes they want to take, as long as students take the major requirement. Also, students are welcomed to see academic advisors for an advice about the classes. Secondly, I assume that joining the club is one of the important parts of the college life because it does invigorate students. Both school have various kinds of clubs and most of the students look forward to getting involved in the club. Not only St. Norbert College but also the university in South Korea encourage students to get involved in clubs. Finally, those who have used the library to study for exam in the exam period in St. Norbert College, you might know that library is literally full of students in the exam period. And, so do the universities in my country. I personally like to study in the library because I like the atmosphere of studying hard together and it kinds of stimulate me to study harder. My friend told me that if she doesn’t get up early and go to library in the morning, she would not be able to study in the library because every spot would be already taken. I experienced same situation here as well and I thought that no matter in which country you attend the university, students study hard at least in the exam period.

            As US and South Korea is different country and they have different education system, there are some differences between St. Norbert College and universities in my country. In universities in my country, professors are not able to care about every single student. They even don’t know students’ name or face, unless the student is outstanding, or the student goes to professor to ask questions actively. St. Norbert College, on the other hand, professor knows, at least, name or face of every student in her/his class. I think the reason of this difference is not that the professors in my country are indifferent to their students, but that the number of students is very different. My friend’s university has so many students that the famous class accepts even more than 100 students. St. Norbert College has a few students compare to the university in my country so there are a few students in class and that’s why professor can take care of them much easier.

IMPROVING MY ENGLISH OUTSIDE THE CLASSES

A long flight took me to the United States for finding knowledge. Being an international student and studying with the second language, I have a lot of difficulties in my study. The most detriment is improving my English in order to adjust to the new environment and understand what teachers said. From the first month, the second-month until now, my English is improved a lot. It is because I have implemented some useful ways in studying English.

First of all, I chose to surround myself with English. I start by changing the language on my cell phone, laptop... I read English books and newspapers. I know that reading is a great way to increase vocabulary and improve grammar in English. At first, I read some children’s books where the language seems easier than academic books. Then I read newspapers and wrote down new words and grammar structures. Reading newspaper is not only help me improve my English but also know more about the local and national goings-on. Besides, I listened to some lectures on the Internet and took notes in order to improve my listening skill.

          Living in a country with English is totally spoken, having a conversation regularly in English is mandatory. I am lucky because I live with American Sisters. Therefore, I have the best environment to practice English with native speakers. I usually ask them about some academic vocabularies and proverbs in English; How to use a suitable word for each situation; how to spell and pronounce a difficult word... This way helps me a lot in improving English. Besides, to improve writing skill is, I started with studying and remembering at least five vocabularies every day; practicing to write my diary in English. The reason is the more vocabulary I have, the more my writing will be better and the more I use the words in the writings the better I can remember them.

          To summary, each person has different ways to strengthen his or her own English. For me, reading newspapers, taking with native speakers, and trying to write something in English every day is some best ways to enhance English skills. Being an international student, we need to find the most useful ways for myself in order to improve my English every day.

Best way to improve my english:

      There is so many ways to improve our english when we are from other countries. But I think the best ones are, to ask a lots of questions, to try our hardest and finally to talk to people and get corrected.
      I have an experience like that, I moved to America for high school, not knowing any word in english. But when I got there, I started to hang out with people and asked so many questions, I thought there were going to hate me. But questions are important, we can not be shy. We have to ask any question we have and do not think it is stupid. There is always someone who is going to answer your question.
      Second, you need to try your hardest. In anything you do or say. If we do not try, we can not get better. In class, help people and get help and don’t be afraid to get help, everyone does. Also, more you try, more you practice, the easiest it is going to come along. More you do again and again and it will come but we need time. It is never easy to learn a new language.
      Finally, get corrections. This means that ask someone to correct you for any mistakes. I remember in my school , my best friend was listening to what I was saying 24/7 and any little mistakes he yelled at me to correct it and they still do. But without that right now, I will be doing so many mistakes. Which is alright but good to try not to.
      To conclude, this is some way you can improve your english. They are really easy and good. Asking question isn’t hard and trying our hardest is easy if we really want to get better, and the last thing, to get correction is the most important for the little mistakes.
